New Delhi: The government of India has ordered the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to block 22 Youtube channels for spreading fake news and spreading anti India content across platforms. This fake and Anti-India content can be a a major problem for the nation and could impact national security.

Today in the times of the digital revolution there is a lot of free content available on internet across various platforms and anyone could barely distinguish between the truth and fake news. this has been a serious issue in the recent while as everything is going viral in no time and the Indian government is trying to curb such fake and anti-national content.
Identifying the list of channels spreading such fake news among the numerous channels and platforms available on the internet is turning out to be a bigger challenge for the central government and as of now the Indian government has blocked 22 such youtube channels including 18 Indian youtube channels and 4 Pakistani channels and 1 web-based new portal. The government of INDIA has initiated the process to block channels sighting the anti-national elements and communal forces using such fake news to instigate communal violence and another kind of disturbances in the country. The government of India is trying to curb such channels but to say the least it might be a challenge?
Since the IT Rules act 2021 last year this is the first time the government has taken action against Indian youtube news publishers. Along with the youtube channels, 3 Twitter accounts 1 Facebook and one news website has been blocked.
With the latest ban, A total of 78 Youtube-based news channels and several social media/news publishers have been blocked for the spereading such anti national and fake conent which is a concern for the national security, sovereignty, and integrity of India, public order, etc.
List of channels blocked as follows:
- ARP News had 4.4 crore subscribers
- AOP News with 74 lakh subscribers,
- LDC News with 4.7 lakh subscribers.
Among Pakistani YouTube channels blocked,
- ‘DuniyaMeryAagy’ had 4.2 lakh subscribers
- ‘GhulamNabiMadni’ had over 37.09 lakh views, and
- ‘HAQEEQAT TV’ had more than 40 lakh subscribers.
The Twitter accounts blocked by the government are all Pakistan-based handles and associated with the same YouTube channels that were blocked, including ‘GhulamNabiMadni’, with 5,553 followers, ‘DunyaMeryAagy’ with 4,063 followers including their facebook page and ‘Haqeeqat TV’ with 3,23,800 followers.
These youtube channels are publishing fake news on various topics including national security about the Indian Armed forces and J&K.
