
Technology: Global Tech Giant Google acquired Raxium which devlops AR & VR applications. Raxium is a five-year-old startup company which is primarily focused on developing microLED displays for AR and VR applications. These microLED’s are very similar to OLED instead of using a backlight, each pixel emits its own light. The reports suggest Google offered $1billion on Raxium. Still more details of the deal are yet to come out.
According to the people familiar with technology says,

Experets opined that this is a clear sign of Google trying to invest more on physical components that needed to develop such devices. For more than a decade now google has been working developing its own headsets. However the results so far are not matching upto the expectations.
Google rivals Apple, Snap and Meta Platforms recently made similar business deals for the same technology and which will play significant factor in developing AR Glasses and headsets. These rival deals played a significant factor in Google’s decision to acquire Raxium.
Google Acquired North couple of years ago. North has strong tech foundation and is a Pioneer in human computer interfaces and smart glasses.
Google first introduced Google glass in 2014 and also brought the second edition of eye-wearable device. But Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 didn’t meet the expectations.
However, People realised that the device was not yet ready to be part of their lives. There were safety and health concerns too. The built-in camera raised privacy and piracy issues too.
