Social Media Platform TikTok suspends live streaming in Russia

Chinese video-sharing app TikTok Suspends Live Streaming in Russia. The short-video social media platform also suspended new content and livestreaming abilities on its platform in Russia due to country’s new “fake news” policy. Due to the recent developments in Russia with ongoing Ukrain-Russia WAR, Russian President Vladimir Putin recently signed into law a bill to curb Fake News. With this bill  being introduced a jail term of up to 15 years for publishing any kind of “fake news” about the Russian army, as Moscow pushes forward with its invasion of Ukraine.

In a statement released by the Tiktok officials revealed that the Tiktok have no other choice but to suspend livestreaming and new content to our video service in Russia.

The statement reads 

Russia has been imposing restriction on social media platforms to curb any sort of negative news spreading against the government due to the on-going crisis. Few popular Media channels in the world like CNN and BBC officially confirmed suspending their operations. This decision was made to protect their journalists from the new law.

Apple & Microsoft and other biggies in the technology have imposed restrications on sales and services of their company products in russia.

Very Popular Us-Based Video gaming company Activision Blizzard has confirmed that the company is suspending New sales “of and in” its games in Russia.

Epic confirmed that the company is stopping all its commerce with Russia in our games through a tweet from its newroom account.

The most popular gaming company EA games removed Russian teams from its NHL and FIFA games. EA Games also suspended all sales to Russia and Belarus who are supporting Russia in the war against Ukraine.

Though Japanese gaming company Nintendo didn’t suspend its operations, kept their Russian eShop idle in maintenance mode. Japanese gaming giant Nintendo officially confirmed with a notice published on its Russian website.
